Data Strategist

We’re looking for a Data Strategist to join Firstborn’s growing Strategy and Analytics team. The Strategy and Analytics team at Firstborn integrates data and creative thinking to provide insights that impact all areas of our business. While the Data Strategist position has a greater focus on Analytics, a level of strategic thinking is definitely required.  
The Data Strategist’s role will be to serve as the lead on projects and key programs at Firstborn, providing insights to clients and collaborating across internal teams (creative, IA/UX, tech) to help create innovative work. 
As a Data Strategist, you are inquisitive by nature and an adept storyteller, always seeking to add a narrative context to data. While it’s important to be able to present the intricacies of the numbers, it is more important for you to be able to communicate the story behind the numbers—the implications on the client’s business and give clear, actionable steps as to how the data will support the proposed next steps.
While you have experience working across different platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Site Catalyst/Omniture), and conducting analysis using a variety of tools (e.g., Excel, SQL Databases), your main strength is your ability to develop meaningful insights from data and infuse those insights into the creative process.
You should also have a desire to mentor or coach junior team members while continuing hone your own skills.

Key Duties

  • Develop customized analytics solutions for clients across channels and platforms
  • Collaborate with other Firstborn teams to inform design, content and user experience development from an analytics perspective
  • Create KPIs based on specific marketing and business objectives—and based on those metrics, help inform design and development decisions
  • Use data creatively to identify new trends and develop insights
  • Necessary Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in a client-facing role
  • Experienced in presentation development and delivery of data strategy ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong experience with web & social analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Site Catalyst, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Radian6)
  • Experience using database programs (MySQL, SQL Workbench) and Excel analytical toolsets
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Must Have

  • 2-4 years of Analytics or Management Consulting experience
  • 2+ years developing junior members of a team
  • BA/BS is required (Masters/MBA is a plus)
