Dan brings over a dozen years of experience to his role as CEO of Firstborn.
Swiftly rising through the ranks, Dan has the hands-on experience of a former creative developer, the strategic instincts as a long-time client partner, and the innate leadership abilities that drive Firstborn to be one of the most forward-thinking agencies in the world. His unique perspectives of being both a thinker and a maker drive this same culture within the company, leading to the development of potent digital experiences for a client roster that includes PepsiCo, L’Oréal, AARP, HBO and Supercell.
A thoughtful commentator thanks to his diverse roles within the industry, Dan has penned his point of view for Fast Company, Forbes, Advertising Age, and Adweek and has spoken at the Financial Times, Ad Age Digital, 99U and FITC conferences, to name a few. Dan was also named to Direct Marketing News’ 2016 ’40 Under 40’ list and sits on the Digital Board of Directors of the 4A’s.
Inside and outside the office, Dan can be found shuffling a deck of cards—a nod to his expertise in the art of close-up magic.
Bringing over sixteen years of interactive design experience to Firstborn, Joon is an inspiration and a mentor to the creative staff. Always full of big ideas, he contributes much of his energy to project conceptualization and overseeing the user experience and visual design teams inside Firstborn.
Joon began his Firstborn career as a Senior Art Director in 2004, was promoted to Creative Director in 2007 and was named Chief Creative Officer in 2010. Throughout these roles, he established Firstborn’s award-winning 3D department, and his talents have led to the successful production of high-profile projects, including Wrigley’s 5 Gum, Aflac, Sony, L’Oréal, UNIQLO and PepsiCo.
Growing up in both the US and South Korea, Joon found his creative calling at a young age. After honing his design and programming skills through self-home-schooling (and earning his high school diploma at age 16), he was able to circumvent South Korean military service by proving himself as one of the top coders in the country. He continues to channel that creative energy within and beyond Firstborn, constructing a treehouse for his kids inside his Manhattan apartment.
With a decade of digital project production experience, Kristin Keefe oversees multiple client relationships and acts as the direct client liaison at the portfolio level. She works closely with Firstborn’s executive team to help define a client’s digital strategy while also creating and managing yearly roadmaps and ensuring project teams are working toward the larger goals and objectives set forth for each client.
Kristin has a Journalism and Public Relations degree from Colorado State University, where her dad was a professor of Environmental Science for 30 years. Prior to joining the Firstborn family in 2009, Kristin sank her teeth into the creative industry with marketing and interactive production roles at Marketing Art + Science and FL2.
Growing up in Colorado made Kristin a lover of the outdoors and she enjoys exploring the many hiking trails just outside of New York City.
Dave Snyder oversees the entire creative team, working to ensure that all projects are created to the highest standards—strategically, aesthetically and functionally.
Dave graduated from The University of Denver with a BSBA in Marketing and Advertising. He is passionate about progressive design and technology. Dave’s career began in digital—witnessing firsthand the dot com boom and subsequent bust. Before joining Firstborn in 2009, he was Creative Director at the interactive agency FL2 where he helped grow the agency from 4 to 25. His work experience runs the gamut—from eToys to Porsche—and his thoughts have been published in .NET Magazine, Web Designer and Advertising Age.
He self-published a photo book, My Humble Deception. You should buy one.
Gabe Garner partners with new clients from the start of the pitch process to the final execution, consulting with Firstborn’s creative and technical teams during production to ensure that the user experience matches the project vision.
Gabe brings over 15 years of experience in digital development and production to the table, including roles at high profile agencies such as Hilllman Curtis and Attik. He has leveraged this holistic technical history into translating business goals into digital experiences for clients such as Rolex, Keds and Majestic Steel.
His love for all things digital is eclipsed only by his passion for Dungeons & Dragons, which his wife assures us is only a phase.
Alex Krawitz leads original content development and strategy for the Firstborn Studio, a cross-discipline department of creatives: motion designers, 3D graphic artists, video editors and creative producers.
Alex joined Firstborn in 2011, after a seven-year post as Founder and Executive Producer of Bigstar, a bi-coastal motion graphic design and production studio. While at Bigstar, Alex was able to grow the studio from humble beginnings (one machine in a tiny apartment) into an award-winning studio specializing in commercial work, network rebrands and feature film title sequences. Projects included commercial spots for Lexus and AT&T, broadcast work and rebrands for BIO, HBO and ESPN, as well as film title sequences for the Academy Award winning film Inside Job.
Alex is a native of Buffalo, NY and has lived in NYC for the past eleven years. In his spare time he loves to travel with his wife and has been all over the US, Central America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
As Firstborn’s Chief Business Affairs Officer, Kevin Arthur is responsible for enabling client relationships and maintaining the agency’s external business affairs. Prior to his tenure here, Kevin managed the technical infrastructure and all marketing efforts at Silvercup Studios, one of New York’s largest film and television production facilities.
A master of balancing seemingly opposite hobbies, Kevin is 1/3 of the comedy group Black Shabbos and an avid equestrian in his spare time.
